Georgina is a town in south-central Ontario, Canada, and the northernmost municipality in the Regional Municipality of York. The town is situated on the southern shore of Lake Simcoe in the township of Georgina, and is bordered by the townships of Brock and Scugog to the north, and Uxbridge to the south. Georgina also has a number of smaller lakes within its boundaries, such as Fox Lake, De la Salle Lake, Willow Beach Lake and Sibbald Point Provincial Park. Georgina Island is located off shore from Georgina’s main urban area.
The Town of Georgina was created by amalgamating the Village of Sutton West, Georgina Township (including Keswick) and the Town of North Georgina in 1971. Georgina Island was also included in this amalgamation. The Georgina Island First Nations Reserve, while geographically within Georgina, is not subject to the municipality’s jurisdiction and is governed by the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation.
